Early Intervention Specialist
I’m an experienced special needs teacher and adaptive learning specialist, with a Master’s Degree in Special Education and an Associates Certificate in Orton-Gillingham instruction. I work with children from birth through elementary grades.
Does your child have dyslexia and an attention deficit? Sensory processing difficulties and math struggles? Pragmatic communication problems and learning delays? Is your child “complicated?”
These are the challenges I love to teach. How can I make their learning fun? How can I best teach them the way they need to learn?
Every child has lessons designed just for them, progressing at their pace. While I teach, we do cross-midline exercises. We use manipulatives, play doh, Lego and beanbags. We jump and clap and sing and get silly. I incorporate all the senses to best reach long term memory.
Based on your child’s needs and skills, I can develop a customized adaptive learning program for them. Goals may be home and family based and can tie together therapies. I will work with your child in the comfort of your home weekly or daily.
Orton-Gillingham
The Orton-Gillingham Approach offers systematic phonics instruction with multi-sensory input. Teaching reading, writing and spelling together, it is a reliable method to assist all learners, with dyslexia or without, in becoming competent readers and writers.
